Zac Posen for Target US

I was super excited to see Zac Posen for Target US collection and the lookbook. I still have some of Zac Posen for Target Aus clothes. Some of the dresses are so cute but in reality I don't think I would get much wear from it. I really liked the 2 in 1 dress with the frills but decided not to get it. I really like the concept of this dress though. (look book can be viewed here http://fashionista.com/2010/01/first-look-zac-posen-for-target-lookbook/)

I was lucky enough to remember that the collection goes online on the 25th. By the time I went onto the website the gown dress was sold out. I actually like this dress. I decided to order the tiger print sailor dress, the tie die dress and the tuxedo jacket because I think I will get alot of wear from it plus the price was quite reasonable at 39.99, 29.99 and 49.99.

Some of the collection has been spotted on celebrities:

Now I just have to wait until I receive the items. Will post them up once I get them :)

first sewing project

So I decided to finally take the plunge and try to make something using the sewing machine. I have to say I am completely hopeless. I used the sewing machine for the first time to "try" and make a skirt and I learnt alot of things along the way.

I think the most important thing is:

Always measure! I just decided to do this whole thing randomly and I have to say I really wished I had measured things more precisely so I didn't have to undo the stitching etc

The second thing is as a beginner use easy material like cotton. I used this ruffle material and it was very difficult to work with especially for a super noob. I am sure the more I get used to it the easier it gets but I made a mistake using this material.

I think its also a good idea to use patterns that are either available online or buy them from the craft store. At least this way you can get a more accurate skirt or dress and comes with instructions.

I have to say I failed in this project and this is what I came up with.

With the scrap material I decided to make a rose and make that a feature on the skirt.

So here is the final product. Please excuse the dodgy sewing skills :( I hope I can get better though but I think its an Ok first attempt. The back of the skirt I have to say is quite bad. I haven't taken any pics of the back but it is really bad. I will be using the vintage floral one next so hopefully I can come up with something better *fingers crossed*
The colour of the skirt is actual more darker in real life. I really need to look into getting a sewing machine of my own too.

Sass & Bide Sale and OUTNET $1 Birthday Sale

I've been a little lazy posting up something on here. I blame it on the crazy Melbourne weather. It's kind of cold these days and really starting to feel like winter.

Today was a beautiful sunny day and perfect day for shopping. I went to the Sass & Bide Sale today and picked up a few things. I am pretty sure they will reduce most of the items on the last day but I really don't think I can pop down on Sunday.

I bought the PVC black rats, the beast rats (got the cropped version) but I really wanted the full length ones and 2 pairs of jeans for $30 each. I should have gone on the first day but I was really busy couldn't get down there :( (will post these up later)

On another exciting note, I got to buy something on the OUTNET birthday sale yay :). I unfortunately didn't register for the international site... but I really should have coz it would have worked out cheaper than the US site. I was lucky to have my email linked to my phone so the moment I got the email for the US sale I went straight on the laptop and filtered through the pages. I nearly forgot about the sale too but I knew the vogue forums wouldn't let me forget it. Thank goodness for the vogue forums.

I really wanted to get this gorgeous Oscar de la renta dress and it was available until I tried to pay for it grrrr. Everything was getting snapped up quickly and Sold Out. For $1 I was pretty much happy with anything at this point.

I ended up with this Derek Lam shift dress. the RRP was US $1090. A bargain for $1 plus the postage of $45. I hope everyone else was able and lucky enough to buy something too from the OUTNET birthday sale :)

At least now I know for next time what to expect during these sales and I will have to be even more super quick to get something I really want.
